This report details an event SOLD held with the support of the Law Society’s Access to Justice Committee and executive team.
In 2020 we worked with Law Society members to produce a guide for defence solicitors
The purpose of the guide is to help defence solicitors provide high-quality services and legal representation to their clients who have communication support needs.
We have been working on a supplementary toolkit which can be used alongside it.
This will consist of a practical set of tools to assist clients’ understanding of custody processes and support their ability to communicate effectively. It also aims to help solicitors recognise and respond to clients’ needs so they can make reasonable adjustments during their interactions.
The toolkit will be available in early 2023.
